The construction of the residence of Liu Guanxiong started in the year of the reign of Emperor Qian Long, Qing Dynasty. Occupying an area of 1,308㎡, the house consists of two buildings next to each other. The main building is composed of two compounds with a gate to the parlour on the east. The residence was designated as one of the 6th group of cultural relics under provincial protection in 2005.
Liu Guanxiong (1860-1927), born in Min County (present Fuzhou), graduated from the navigating class, Fujian Shipbuilding College. He joined North China Navy in his early years. After the Revolution of 1911, he was appointed Minister of Navy, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Education.
